Love her or hate her, you have to admit that Kim Kardashian has won the clothing brand game. Skims is everywhere–a bonafide success. But also–you must admit–it’s on the pricey side as far as shapewear goes.
I finally saw Skims in person only in November for the first time. And I have to say it is a level above what you usually see in terms of loungewear or shapewear.
However, not everyone can afford it. Nor does everyone want to support the Kardashian empire.
I do love Skims pieces (or Skims inspired) as basics but in my opinion, you still need to build a wardrobe round them. Again, not everyone will want to invest in the real thing here, for something you wear under something else.

The Skims dupe of course.
I’m never mad at a good dupe, because let’s face it, a lot of this stuff comes from the same factories anyway.
